We began our conversation on Tuesday with a quote from Marcella Durand, a poet who invites us to think about how poetry can make unlikely connections. We played a game where we each thought spontaneously of two objects and then a way of linking them. We then wrote nouns on slips of paper, collected them into a can, and each drew two to write a piece relating them. We went outside and found sit spots with the direction of drawing one plant and then making notes about the plant and the experience of drawing the plant. We played Eagle Eye and came inside to write a group poem about what we have noticed while playing Eagle Eye. I will include that poem in our group anthology.
Speaking of anthology, everyone needs to start looking at all of the pieces you have started throughout the semester and decide which you would like to revise, edit, and include in the anthology. That is your homework.
We will meet at Fort Washington State Park on Tuesday. We will be meeting at the pavilion next to parking lot #1.
See you Tuesday!
This is a weekly update from the Writing Workshop program for participating families. Paige will be launching a Writing Workshop blog in Fall 2012.
